Laptop Screen Cleaning Tips



A laptop screen tends to accrue dust, fingerprints, and marks from various daily activities. Regular laptop screen cleanup helps to reduce strain on eyes while carrying out precious work activities. Various screen cleaning products are available in the market but while choosing considers ammonia or alcohol-free cleaner as they responsible for screen degradation. Instead, one can go with less expensive cleaners like cotton balls, soft cloth or mop with a homemade solution.


Cleaning steps:

  • Read the manual of a laptop or computer for any cleaning product limitations.

  • Turn off the device and keep the screen open in a wide angle. Extend a clean and heavy towel on the base to cover the keyboard.

  • Clean the laptop or desktop screen with a cotton cloth or swab to eradicate dust particles.

  • Prepare a solution for cleaning using 50% distilled water and 50% white vinegar in a spray bottle.

  • Spray a solution on soft cotton cloth or swab and wipe the screen in gentle circular direction.

Try to avoid few things:

  •  Do not spray cleaner directly on the screen; it may possible to leak through the frame and damage inner electronic part.

  • Do not clean the screen with rough cloth or figures.
  •   Do not press cotton swab on the screen otherwise, the solution may flow down into the frame of screen or keyboard.

  • Do not overuse, it is ideal to use once in a week only to keep the screen clean.

DIY tips for laptop screen repair!

Are you thinking that life of laptop ends when the screen goes dead? It will be difficult to work on cracked screen; of course, it depends on a size of crack always. I am pretty sure that after reading this article you will be able to replace the screen of the laptop in a just hour with a lower price than official service.


•Remove plastic or rubber covers from the bottom or corners of a laptop screen.
•Remove screws under plastic or rubber cover using tweezers.
•Use a plastic opening tool to pop off clips attached to the parameter.
•You will get screws attached to the clip; remove it using a screw driver.
•Just pop the screen out and put flat on a keyboard. The screen is still attached to a keyboard with wires so do not pull out completely from the keyboard.
•Inside video cable connector is covered with a clear tape to secure it. Remove that strip with tweezers or fingers. 
•Carefully unplug the screen. You can use tweezers for it.
•Remove old damaged screen and replace with new one.

•The screen is surrounded by plastic or metal bezel, just be careful while replacing the screen as it can break if not handled properly.

Laptop Screen Repair! What need to be checked?



Alike most laptop of computer problem, the LED screen of laptop requires elimination process as it is the easiest process to diagnose the problem.
A laptop has five key components LED screen, flex cable, back light, motherboard and battery. 

A broken LED screen due to external trauma is clearly detected.
Broken LED screen is a typical issue that usually occurred for a laptop after power cable and hard drive problems.

How to recognize screen issue of laptop:

If the screen of your laptop is not displaying then you need to follow few simple steps to diagnose the exact problem. There are two types of fixes one can fixed easily and other involved replacement of the screen.

•If the screen is blank then first of all connect an output to the external source of display like a monitor to recognize if the issue is regarding screen or any other part of a laptop. You need to switch between monitors by holding Fn key and then shuffling between F1 and F2 to check both laptop screen as well as an external screen. If the test works on an external monitor and fails for laptop screen then you can conclude that the screen is bad but the video card is working.

•If the screen is very dim then you can play around with brightness settings. If that also doesn’t work then you need an expert for replacement of LED screen of your laptop.
